Many of the nation’s historically Black colleges and universities are located in the southeastern United States. As a result many were impacted by powerful Hurricane Irma. HBCUs in several states called off classes, athletic events, and other activities. Florida A&M University in Tallahassee is closed through Friday September 15. Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens remains closed.
