Quinton T. Ross Chosen as President of Alabama State University in Montgomery

The board of trustees of Alabama State University selected Quinton T. Ross to be the 15th president of the historically Black university. The board initially voted 12 to 2 in favor of appointing Dr. Ross, but after his appointment was assured, the two dissenting board members joined the majority in a unanimous decision. Dr. Ross is an Alabama State Senator. He also has served as director of adult education at Trenholm State Technical College in Montgomery, an institution where Blacks make up 61 percent of the student body.
