According to the latest Open Doors report from the Institute on International Education, from 2020 to 2021, the number of students from foreign nations studying in the United States decreased significantly due to the COIVD-19 pandemic. Two years ago there was a slight increase of 3.8 percent. In the 2022-23 academic year, the number of international students increased from 948,519 to 1,057,188, an increase of 11.5 percent. For the 2023-24 academic year, there were 1,126,690 foreign students at U.S. colleges and universities, a 6.6 percent increase from the previous year There were more than 56,780 students from sub-Saharan African nations at U.S. colleges and universities during the 2023-24 academic year.
