On October 25, the Scottish Rite Masonic Center buzzed with the vibrant essence of African culture at the fourth annual Ubuntu Dinner Fundraiser, hosted by Africa House Sacramento. This event embodied the spirit of ubuntu, a Southern African philosophy denoting interconnectedness and community.This year’s theme emphasized bridging cultural gaps and fostering communal ties across various regions, making the evening both a celebration and a rallying call for progress. Dr. Ernest Uwazie, chairman of Africa House Sacramento, articulated the organization’s vision during his address, aiming to fortify families, uphold heritage, and foster community growth."Africa House will emerge as a lasting multicultural center in Sacramento," Uwazie declared. The initiative aspires to construct a 10,000-square-foot resource center to host diverse cultural programs, workshops, and support services, targeting the empowerment of numerous diasporic communities. The Ubuntu Dinner unveiled commitments and recruited “table captains” to energize the fundraising campaign, aiming to secure $5.5 million over the next few years for this monumental project.
