The abusive relationship had left her nearly homeless without this vital support.In 2023, California police managed over 160,000 domestic violence-related calls, averaging 18 per hour, indicating a persistent issue. Advocates stress that this violence significantly contributes to homelessness among women, especially Black women who encounter systemic barriers. Organizations like WEAVE offer critical resources, including emergency shelters and legal advocacy, highlighting the urgent need for integrated approaches addressing both domestic violence and homelessness.
