(Photos: YouTube Screenshots) - On Wednesday, Ronald Hampton, Chairman of the Institute of the Black World 21st Century’s Police Justice and Accountability Task Force, issued a critical statement regarding Trump’s “gestapo-like tactics” as he utilizes ICE to target communities of color.Hampton noted, “The Trump Administration’s Border Czar recently suggested that an individual’s ‘physical appearance’ suffices for the Immigration Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) to detain and interrogate, bypassing any need for ‘Probable Cause.’He emphasized, “It’s alarming to witness so-called law enforcement, like ICE, rounding up individuals based solely on their appearance. This practice undermines the Constitution’s 4th Amendment and constitutes blatant racial profiling. We’re observing disturbing incidents where ICE agents instill fear and assault immigrants, echoing authoritarian tactics.”He further warned of the danger this poses to African American and other communities of color, while expressing alarm about Trump’s intentions to centralize power, evidenced by his Executive Order impacting DC policing.Dr. Divine Pryor, from the People’s Police Academy, voiced concerns about the imminent threat posed by ICE to African American neighborhoods.
