Davidson County Register of Deeds Office closes early due to global tech shutdown

The Nashville Davidson County Register of Deeds Office reports that its electronicrecording of documents has been halted by the global tech outage that has shut downairports, banks, and other institutions. Register of Deeds Karen Johnson announced thisafternoon that the office is closing at 2:30 p.m. today.
Microsoft says a fix of the underlying issue with its Windows operating system has beendeployed, but many users are not yet operational. The Register of Deeds Office hasbeen unable to record deeds and other documents, and customers have been unable toaccess the e-recording system online.
“We are working with Metro IT and our partners at Business Information Systems to getour system working again, but it appears that we will not have the issue resolved thisafternoon,” Johnson said. “We are closing the office at 2:30 p.m. today, and we expectto be back up and running from 8 a.m-4 p.m. Monday during our regular hours.”
