Dennery has experienced upheaval following two tragic shootings within a mere four days, resulting in two fatalities and two injuries that necessitated hospitalization. This surge of violence prompted an immediate response from law enforcement, leading to several arrests and the recovery of a firearm.
The initial incident reported took place on Friday, June 27, claiming the life of 36-year-old Jimmy Charles. Just a few days later, on Tuesday, July 1, a second shooting ended the life of 21-year-old Kennedy Leon, known as “Scrappy,” from Grand Ravine, Dennery. Officers from the Richfond Police Station were dispatched at approximately 2:40 a.m. following gunfire reports, discovering Leon with a fatal gunshot wound.
While securing the initial scene, authorities heard more gunfire, leading them to Ti La Resource, where they found a 23-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man from Bexon with gunshot wounds. Both victims are in stable condition. A coordinated operation involving multiple police units led to the apprehension of four individuals and the retrieval of a loaded .22 revolver. One suspect is under custody regarding the firearm, and inquiries into these incidents are ongoing.
