A new report from the U.S. Department of Education looks at the number of students who were victims of crimes while at school. During the 2016-17 school year, 2.2 percent of all students ages 12 to 18 were victimized by crime. There were slight differences between racial and ethnic groups. Some 2.6 percent of African Americans in this age group with victimized by crime compared to 2.2 percent of Whites.
