Authorities have revealed that an Italian man retained his deceased mother’s remains and attempted to impersonate her to secure her pension benefits. As reported by Corriere della Sera, 56-year-old son of 85-year-old Graziella Dall’Oglio donned makeup, a wig, and her clothing in an effort to renew her expired identity card, hoping to continue accessing her pension funds. Graziella passed away in 2022 in Borgo Virgilio, near Mantua. The son, previously employed as a nurse but currently jobless, was detected at a registry office on November 16, where a clerk recognized discrepancies in his disguise, ultimately alerting local law enforcement. Video footage captured his comical attempt to assume his mother’s identity as he entered the office, dressed in a dark cardigan and skirt, supported by a cane. Upon calling him back under the guise of paperwork completion, authorities discovered her mummified body concealed in a closet. He faces several charges, including fraud and concealment of a corpse, while awaiting autopsy results.
