In her upcoming book about her tenure as spokesperson for former President Joe Biden, seasoned Democratic activist Karine Jean-Pierre makes an unexpected proposition. She suggests, “We must abandon traditional confines and transcend partisanship,” encouraging readers to adopt an independent mindset. Current data from Gallup highlights that 43 percent of Americans now chose to identify as independents, marking a gradual decline in party allegiance, which now stands at 54 percent for Democrats and Republicans combined. Despite her substantial Democratic roots, skepticism about her motives abounds. Critics allege her departure signals opportunism. Jean-Pierre previously held critical positions within the party, including as Kamala Harris's chief of staff, and notably became the first Black and LGBTQ press secretary in history. Her book, “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines,” releases in October.
