Saint Lucia’s Ministry of Education has advised principals and early childhood development centre administrators that schools will remain open today, Tuesday, October 3, 2023. “We remain guided by the Saint Lucia Meteorological Office and will continue to monitor the weather bulletins and forecasts. Please advise parents accordingly,” a notice from the Chief Education Officer said. The Education Ministry’s notice to principals and early childhood development centre administrators had an October 3, 2023 date. The advisory appeared as some individuals took to social media to criticise the Ministry for not suspending classes amid a Saint Lucia Met Office forecast of mostly cloudy skies, with some scattered light to moderate showers and isolated thunderstorms. According to the 6:00 a.m. forecast, Tropical Storm Philippe continues to impact the Leeward Islands. It said moisture and instability associated with the system would cause scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the remainder of the Lesser Antilles during the forecast period.
