Five Journalists Murdered Amid Gaza Conflict

(Photos: YouTube Screenshots) - The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and Reporters Without Borders (RSF) have both denounced Israel's airstrikes on Monday morning, which resulted in the deaths of twenty individuals, including five journalists. These fatalities illustrate a concerning trend of Israel targeting media professionals.According to CPJ, among the deceased are Hussam Al-Masri, a freelancer for Reuters; Al Jazeera camera operator Mohammed Salama; Mariam Abu Dagga, an independent photojournalist collaborating with the Associated Press; and Moaz Abu Taha, a video journalist. They perished during two Israeli attacks on Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, Gaza. Early reports also noted injuries to journalist Jamal Baddah from Palestine Today TV, photographer Hatem Khaled, and freelance photographer Mohammed Fayeq.Sara Qudah, CPJ’s Regional Director, criticized the ongoing violence against journalists, while RSF Director General Thibaut Bruttin underscored the alarming disregard for international humanitarian law, calling for urgent actions to safeguard press freedoms and ensure accountability for these heinous acts. Following these updates, RSF reported the death of a fifth journalist, Ahmed Abu Aziz, from his injuries, elevating the toll of journalists killed in Gaza amidst this conflict.
