Gros Islet Residents Granted Bail On Charges Of Possessing Illegal Rifle, Ammunition

On Thursday, September 14, 2023, a team of Police Officers executed a search warrant on the premises of twenty-six [26] Marlick Tisson of St. John Street, Gros-Islet. The residence was occupied by two persons, Marlick Tisson and a female who has been identified as twenty-seven [27] Akisna George. The search led to the discovery of a .22 calibre Mossberg rifle and twenty-nine (29) .22 rounds of ammunition. Neither of the occupants produced a valid license for the firearm or ammunition; as a result, the firearm and ammunition were seized by the Police Officers. Consequently, Marlick Tisson and Akisna George were arrested for Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition without a valid license. The pair were subsequently charged for these offenses. On Friday, September 15, 2023, they were presented before a Magistrate’s Court for the purpose of bail, which was set in the following amounts: For the charge of Possession of Firearm, Marlick Tisson and Akisna George were bailed in the sum of thirty thousand dollars (XCD30000.00) cash, suitable surety, or land documents each.
