Harvard Halts Financial Support for Black Graduation and Various Affinity Groups

Harvard University has declared it will cease funding graduation events for Black students and other affinity groups due to potential funding cuts from the Department of Education regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Officials notified student groups via email, emphasizing their commitment to community while complying with federal law. President Alan M. Garber has previously stated the university would not bow to pressure from the DOE. In response, the Black Alumni Society has initiated a $50,000 emergency fundraiser for the 2025 Black graduation.
