Kohl's Employee Under Fire for Searching Black Shopper's Bag

A Kohl’s worker has come under fire for alleged racial profiling after being filmed pursuing a Black customer and rummaging through her shopping bag. The now-famous TikTok footage depicts the shopper's encounter with a White employee, named Shelby, outside a Kohl’s in Jacksonville, Florida. As the customer walked toward the lot, the employee confronted her, demanding to inspect her bag filled with clothing items. The employee insisted on viewing the shopper's receipt for her purchases, which included pants and sweaters. "You’re saying I need a receipt for what? Why are you checking my bag?" the customer inquired. After providing the receipt, the employee insinuated the customer had stolen the sweaters. This prompted the shopper to assert her purchase. The confrontation drew significant attention, leading social media users to denounce the employee's actions, asserting such behavior violates company policy and urging formal complaints be filed against Kohl's corporate.
