Mangal Takes Aim at COPACI Seat

President of the Saint Lucia Cycling Association, Henry Mangal is hopeful of winning a regional administrative position in Panama today. Mangal is attending the Pan-American Cycling Confederation (COPACI) Congress in Panama this week. He is hoping to be elected vice president for the Caribbean Zone. Mangal, who has been leading the sport locally for the better part of two decades, will go up against Trinidad & Tobago’s Rowena Williams. President of the Trinidad & Tobago Cycling Federation (TTCF), Williams serves alongside Mangal on the executive of the Caribbean Cycling Union (CCU). Mangal is the first vice president and Williams second vice president of CCU. Both are now bidding to replace Trevor Bailey of St Vincent & the Grenadines, who stepped down as president of CCU in 2023. As part of the  2025 Pan American Cycling Congress, Mangal was on Tuesday honoured with the COPACI Order of Merit, one of two recipients from the Caribbean. He was handed the award for his “outstanding service to cycling in the region.” The Congress is being attended by David Lappartient, who has been at the head of the International Cycling Union (UCI) since 2017.
