Nashville, TN– Nashville General Hospital (NGH), Middle Tennessee’s essential hospital serving Nashville and Davidson County announced the recent acquisitions of the da Vinci Xi® surgical system by Intuitive, designed with the goal of further advancing technology used in minimally invasive surgery. This robotic surgery addition provides the community with access to the most up-to-date technology and options available enabling NGH to provide enhanced patient care, reduce health inequities in the Nashville community, improve the caregiver experience and increase profitability.
“The introduction of our robotic surgery program represents a significant investment in the future of surgical care at our hospital,” said Joshua Baxter, DNP, MBA, CRNA, Clinical Director of Peri-Operative Services. “Everyone in Nashville deserves to have access to the latest advancements in surgery.”
Robotic-assisted surgery using the da Vinci Xi® system extends the capabilities of a surgeon’s eyes and hands. The system can be used across a spectrum of minimally invasive surgical procedures and enables multi-quadrant access for gynecology, urology, thoracic, cardiac, and general surgeries. During surgery, the surgeon is 100% in control of the robotic-assisted da Vinci Xi® system, which translates their hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside the patient’s body.
