Saint Lucia Piton Girlz Joins Group A in Exciting Concacaf Women’s Qualifiers

Saint Lucia’s Piton Girlz are gearing up for a competitive run in the Concacaf Women’s Qualifiers, scheduled to commence in November with two home and two away matches. This past weekend, the draw for the 29-team competition was held in Miami, Florida. Placed in Pool A, Saint Lucia is set to face formidable opponents, including the historically dominant Mexico, alongside emerging teams from Puerto Rico, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and the United States Virgin Islands Dashing Eagles.The senior women’s squad last competed in 2023 during the Concacaf Gold Cup qualifiers, where they secured victories against Guadeloupe but faced defeats to Cuba. Key players included Arnicka Louis, netting six goals, with support from Krysan St Louis and others.Under coach Francis “Panko” McDonald, the addition of collegiate athletes from the U.S. will enhance the team’s dynamics. As the inter-district women’s competition concludes, local players have gained experience, and young talents are showing promise as they prepare for the pathway to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 and the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.
