Pensioners at a Glasgow care home embraced street art by graffitiing at SWG3. Residents from Florence House, in Govan, had a day out to Scotland’s first purpose-built graffiti studio, Yardworks, to unleash their creativity. The visit provided the residents with a unique opportunity to experiment with graffiti art, creating their very own ‘Florence’ mural. The unique trip is part of Florence House’s ongoing wellbeing programme which is designed to offer stimulating activities to ensure residents remain connected to the community through events and socialising opportunities. Resident Sylvia, aged 73, said: “I love arts and crafts but I’ve never tried my hand at graffiti and spray painting before so this was a new and exciting challenge. “It did take me a bit of time to get used to the spray painting because i normally sketch on paper but once I got the hang of it, I loved it. It was really freeing actually, to have this huge white wall as a canvas was brilliant – I really enjoyed it.” Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
