On Friday, May 23, an array of performers, including line dancers, tap dancers, and a Tai Chi sword artist, vied for the coveted Best of Show medal at the Piedmont Plus Senior Games/SilverArts Performance competition. This inaugural event unfolded at the Intergenerational Center for Arts and Wellness. SilverArts coordinator Naila Lyles-Elcock warmly welcomed guests to savor a buffet dinner by Chef Pam while DJ Jay set a lively backdrop. The celebrated Jazzy Ladies, last year's local champions, captivated the audience with their synchrony and striking black attire, while the Prime Time Tappers, in flowing red skirts, showcased their flair. However, it was singer-songwriter Steve Wilson, with his heartfelt storytelling and poignant melodies, who ultimately enchanted the judges, earning him the top accolade. Julia Schafer's elegant Tai Chi sword dance further mesmerized all. This evening was a splendid tribute to Older Americans Month.
