After an impressive 64 years leading the church’s musical ministry, the 91-year-old Martin was honored as minister of music emerita. Beginning her musical journey at age three, Martin has served under seven pastors and witnessed decades of transformation within the church. Her celebration united four generations of family, friends from Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, and the community she has fervently nurtured.St. Andrew’s AME Church, established in 1850, is Sacramento’s oldest African American congregation, revered for its Christian advocacy and cultural contributions.
