Talia Kirkland is a devoted multimedia journalist, spouse, daughter, and community advocate, influenced by her family, friends, and personal experiences. A native of Penn Hills, she graduated from Penn Hills High School in 2010 and earned her journalism degree and Master of Science in Media Technology and Arts from Duquesne University. Kirkland, a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists, was honored as a 2024 member of the New Pittsburgh Courier’s Fab 40 class. Inspired by her first Black teacher, Ms. Livingston, she initially aspired to be a poet but transitioned to journalism. Kirkland emphasizes the significance of editorial integrity and community impact throughout her career, notably at WPXI-TV, where she reported on pivotal local stories. Recently, she joined Fox 5 (KVVU-TV) in Las Vegas, embracing new opportunities while cherishing her roots and supporters back home.
