Young U.S. Navy Veteran Shot Dead in New York Over Money Demand

A 20-year-old man faces murder charges following the tragic shooting of Keino Campbell, a 27-year-old U.S. Navy veteran, in what family members are describing as a “senseless act of road rage.” Authorities in New York City reported that Campbell was discovered unconscious in his 2012 gray Infiniti around 2 a.m. on June 14. Witnesses indicate an argument erupted between Campbell and another motorist, escalating violently when the suspect shot him three times in the chest. Despite his efforts to escape, he crashed a short distance from the location and was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Family members revealed that Campbell, an honorable Navy serviceman from 2019 to 2022, desired to be a pilot before shifting his aspirations toward a career in security and electrical engineering due to visual challenges. His mother expressed profound grief, wishing for her son’s future instead of her own. The suspect, Michael Aracena, has been charged with murder, manslaughter, and weapon possession.
