A former Rankin County, Mississippi deputy, Christian Dedmon, is currently serving a 40-year prison sentence for the severe physical and sexual abuse of citizens, including two Black men, all while he was part of a notorious group termed the "Goon Squad." He is now facing a federal lawsuit for allegedly exposing himself and rubbing his genitals against the face and bare buttocks of a man he was arresting. According to the lawsuit filed on November 25, Dedmon also fired a gun near the man’s head during the arrest and subsequently tasered him three times. Alan Jackson Schmidt, the plaintiff, was initially stopped for an expired registration but faced accusations of possessing stolen property. The lawsuit accuses Dedmon and other deputies of violating Schmidt's constitutional rights during this brutal incident in December 2022. This case is part of a broader pattern of violent misconduct linked to the Goon Squad, which tortured citizens, reflecting a grim legacy of law enforcement abuse in Mississippi.
