Melynda J. Price has been named the first woman and first African-American director of the John R. Gaines Center for Humanities at the University of Kentucky. She will also hold the John R. Gaines Endowed Chair in the Humanities at the university. Dr. Price has been serving as the William L. Matthews Jr. Professor of Law and has been a faculty member at the university since 2006. Price is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University in Texas where she majored in physics.
