Well-known Saint Lucia businessman Conrad Darius James, who, with his wife, launched the first Dr. Freezer’s ice cream parlour and fast food outlet on High Street, Castries, has died. A family member said James passed away suddenly Saturday at his Bonne Terre home. He was seventy-nine years old. James and his wife opened Dr. Freezer’s on High Street thirty-nine years ago after recognising there would be a demand  among students because there were four schools in the vicinity at the time. A relative described the couple as hard workers and recalled that James was very family-oriented in addition to working hard. After the first Dr. Freezer’s outlet opened on High Street, the late businessman’s son, Darren James, would later open two additional outlets in the City. The idea to call the business Dr. Freezer’s came from the name brand of an ice cream-making machine the late businessman and his wife bought when they started. Conrad Darius James has left to mourn his wife, four children and six grandchildren among others. The article Well-Known Saint Lucia Businessman Dies is from St. Lucia Times.
