Downtown Little Rock Partnership hosting MuralFest to turn graffiti into art

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- Downtown Little Rock Partnership is working to beautify different areas of the city by transforming graffiti on buildings into unique works of art. These efforts are all taking place as the city prepares to host its first-ever MuralFest for 501 Day. New mural in downtown Little Rock created to show powerful depiction of women Kyle Leyenberger is the communications director for DLRP and said he’s excited to see how everything will turn out. “We’ll have eight new murals in one day,” Leyenberger said. Leyenberger said the Mural Fest will be an extra activity during the 501 Day festivities and if all goes well, they’ll go on to transform different parts of the city using multi-talented artists. “We’re getting prepped already and the primer is going on so that the walls are ready for the artists to come in,” Leyenberger said. Lisa Karnnichfeld is one of the many artists part of the MuralFest. She has a mural near Main Street and said she can’t wait to showcase her work more throughout the city.  “Just bringing in any kind of artistic interest into our city is really a prideful thing to be a part of,” she said.
