Universities Announce the Appointment of Three Black Scholars to New Positions

Rosemarie Wesson, a professor of chemical engineering at the City University of New York, was given the added duties of associate vice chancellor and university vice provost for research. She was associate provost for research and earlier associate dean for research at The Grove School of Engineering at City College of New York. Dr. Wesson is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she majored in chemical engineering. She holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan. Charles E. Menifield was named a University Professor at Rutgers University–Newark. He was Dean of the School of Public Affairs and Administration at the university from 2017 to 2022. His research focuses on budgeting and financial management, public health and welfare, use of lethal force by police, public management information systems, education finance, and public administration education. He is the co-editor of the award-winning Politics in the New South: Representation of African Americans in Southern State Legislatures (State University of New York Press, 2005). Dr. Menifield holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master of public policy and administration degree from Mississippi State University.
