2023 David Lash/Chronicle Tournament set for Dec. 27-29

The future of local high school basketball will be on full display next week during the 2023 David Lash/Chronicle Tournament. The tournament, featuring some of the best JV (junior varsity) teams in the area, will be held Dec. 27-29 at Carver High School and Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy.  The tournament, which has become a staple in the community during the holiday season, is named after NCHSAA Hall of Fame coach David Lash, who coached at Carver, Atkins and East Forsyth, and was involved with two state football teams and won five state tennis titles. For over 30 years The Lash/Chronicle Tournament has been the place to see the best 9th and 10th graders in the county at one time, with 16 teams vying for titles in two separate divisions. With no clear-cut favorite, this year’s tournament might be the best yet.  First round games in the Lash Division will be held at W-S Prep, 1215 N. Cameron Ave., on Wednesday, Dec. 27.
