Statement from Council of Bishops of the African Methodist Episcopal Church
Last week, the United States voted to return Donald Trump to the White House as the 47th President of the United States. The result of this election is causing alarm across the world.
What do we do? Despite our fear and trauma at the thought of another Trump presidency, the Council of Bishops of the African Methodist Episcopal Church calls upon our members to remain faithful and never cease praying. God does still has the last word. Democracy is at risk, yet God has never turned His back on us!
Today, several of our questions are seemingly unanswered. Yet, hope abounds! We are thankful for all the efforts of activism and engagement during this election season that the clergy and laity of the African Methodist Episcopal Church engaged in. We are proud of the election of several of our members to offices at the local, state and federal level. These efforts will not be in vain because we know the battle is not to the strong or the swift but to the faithful.
Before moving forward, let us stop, lament and seek God’s direction in prayer. Then, we must...
