Austin Agho to Transition from Old Dominion University Provost to Chief Integration Officer

Austin Agho, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, will transition to a new role as senior advisor to the president and chief integration officer beginning July 1. In this role, Dr. Agho will oversee the university’s merger with Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Agho’s career in higher education spans more than three decades. In 1989, he joined the faculty at the University of Illinois Springfield as an assistant professor. He then transitioned to Florida A&M University in 1992 where he served as professor and director of the health care management program. From there, he served as dean of the School of Health Professions and Studies at the University of Michigan Flint for seven years and later as dean of the Indiana University School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences for eight years. In 2016, Dr. Agho assumed his current role as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Old Dominion University. Throughout his tenure, the university has seen significant growth, earning the designation as an R1 research institution and expanding  degree offerings.
