Benon Mugumbya Explains His Music Hiatus

Benon Mugumbya Mugumbya, who gained prominence as one half of the duo “Benon & Vampos,” addressed his musical hiatus during a performance at the “Tusker Malt Conversessions,” where he shared insights into his career trajectory alongside his former music partner, Vampos. Reflecting on his journey, Mugumbya emphasized that while he has not ceased singing altogether, his creative endeavors have taken a different direction. “I have never stopped singing. Singing is something you can never say you are done with. However, I am doing it in another context; like in my shower room and studio,” he remarked. He suggested that a more pertinent question would be why he stopped releasing music as frequently, attributing this decision to a sense of unfulfillment. “I felt it was never fulfilling.
