Birmingham Water Works Reverses Controversial Decision to Restrict Public Feedback

Residents wishing to address the Birmingham Water Works board this Wednesday can do so without prior online registration. Chair Tereshia Huffman announced a pause on a controversial policy that sought to limit speaking time to two minutes and required sign-ups a day prior. Huffman expressed concern about diminishing public access. Amid renewed scrutiny from Republican lawmakers, a proposed bill aims to drastically restructure the board. Additionally, it mandates board members possess pertinent qualifications and increases meeting stipends. Huffman plans to address these issues in Montgomery.
