Tonya R. Howard, Commissioner of the Blue Island Park District, recently welcomed the popular Sisters Investing in Souls (SIS) to the District. The prominent organization recognized several students who have achieved academic excellence and credible citizenship. Commissioner Howard and the SIS organization are also grateful to Blue Island Alderman Teddy Ruthenberg for his participation in this endeavor. “We are grateful to the SIS organization for all they do to enhance the upward mobility of our youth. The thousands of dollars they raise annually have greatly benefitted hundreds of students who desire to climb the ladder of success through education. “says Commissioner Howard. Sisters Investing in Souls (SIS) was founded on Feb. 2, 2008, by five African American women who understand and recognize family and college students’ financial responsibility. The membership comprises women whose friendships with one another have spanned several decades. These women have attended various colleges and recognize the importance of higher education.
