An individual from Arkansas has been charged with a felony after he allegedly hurled a racial epithet at another man and subsequently assaulted him with a hefty chain, as reported by law enforcement.Tanner Chase Thomas Bobbitt is facing a Class D felony charge of second-degree battery, arising from a violent encounter in Jonesboro on October 17.As per court documents referenced by KAIT, the victim recounted that while cycling to his friend’s residence, he heard Bobbitt utter the slur before making threats. Upon confronting Bobbitt, the assailant reportedly produced a chain from his pocket and struck the victim in the head.The affidavit revealed that the victim sustained a laceration that was actively bleeding. During police questioning, the 22-year-old Bobbitt admitted to using the slur and wielding the chain but contended he was provoked.Authorities discovered a 1.5-foot-long metal chain in his jacket. After being taken into custody at the Craighead County Detention Center, his bond was set at $20,000. Previously, he faced allegations of stabbing a homeless person, claiming it was self-defense.
