The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) has consented to a $5 million settlement for the family of Robinson Lalin, who tragically lost his life when he was dragged by a subway train in Boston three years ago. Lalin died on April 10, 2022, after his arm became ensnared in a subway door, leading to fatal injuries as the train departed the station. According to the National Transportation Safety Board’s preliminary findings, Lalin tried to exit through a side door when the incident occurred. He was dragged approximately 105 feet before fatally colliding with a wall. The family's wrongful death lawsuit highlighted the MBTA's negligence in maintaining safety systems, which allegedly failed during the accident. A judge approved the settlement in April, which will benefit Lalin's two children and nephew, providing a measure of closure.
