PITTSBURGH (July 15, 2025)—McAuley Ministries, the philanthropic arm of Pittsburgh Mercy, has allocated $2.8 million in funding across 14 grants during the initial half of 2025. These grants support educational initiatives, empowerment programs, essential services, and peacemaking efforts in Pittsburgh's Hill District, Uptown, and West Oakland—collectively known as the Mercy Corridor.
This funding underscores McAuley Ministries' dedication to enhancing community assets through collaboration and expanded access to essential resources. “A prime illustration is our support for the Show Up Pittsburgh Initiative,” remarked Executive Director Marisol Valentin. Following an asset mapping exercise, it was evident that fostering collaboration among educational institutions, community stakeholders, and residents was critical.
In 2024, efforts significantly reduced chronic absenteeism in local schools. Initiatives such as food pantries established by Jubilee Association exemplify the positive impact of collaborative efforts in meeting community needs. Further grant distributions include support for various organizations aimed at strengthening educational opportunities, improving living standards, and promoting community development and peace.
Additionally, McAuley Ministries welcomes Sister Barbara Anne Quinn, RSM to its Board of Directors, confident in her extensive experience and commitment to community service.
