Anthony Edwards can’t do it all. Less than twenty-four hours after defeating the New York Knicks in the Big Apple on Friday, the Wolves were bound to have a long night on Saturday when they faced the Cleveland Cavaliers, who lead the Eastern Conference.
At Target Center in Minneapolis, they lost 124-117 after battling to stay ahead of the Cavaliers for the majority of the evening. In the third quarter, the Cavaliers (35-6) ultimately pulled away and led 89-79 entering the fourth quarter. Then, to take a 20-point lead, Cleveland scored the first 10 points of the fourth.
The Wolves (22–20) never really threatened to upset the Cavaliers on Saturday night, but they did catch fire late to reduce their deficit to as little as five with 12 seconds left.

After 12 minutes, Minnesota led 32-29 with 11 of Anthony Edwards’ team-high 28 points in the first quarter. In the process, Edwards surpassed LeBron James and Devin Durant to become the third-youngest player to reach 8,000 career points. In just 344 games, Edwards completed the feat faster than any other player in franchise history.
