Unveiling the 2025 Met Gala Theme: Celebrating the Art of Black Dandyism

This year’s Met Gala will spotlight a lesser-known segment of fashion history. The dress code, “Tailored for You,” emphasizes menswear, while the theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” aligns with an upcoming exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from May 10 to October 26. Drawing inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s thought-provoking work, “Slaves to Fashion,” this presentation explores how fashion has influenced Black identities across the Atlantic diaspora, especially focusing on “dandyism” as a powerful aesthetic and socio-political statement through various historical artifacts.
