Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! Life has been quite hectic as I balance the demands of being a full-time working mother to three amazing kids. My quest to make a meaningful impact drives me to share experiences and insights on this blog, fostering communal learning.
As a Black mother who has been fortunate to have three healthy deliveries, my third birthing experience underscored significant risks arising from physician neglect. This realization expanded beyond my circumstance; alarming statistics reveal that Black women face disproportionately high birth-related complications and mortality.
Black Maternal Health Week serves to confront these disparities, urging awareness of a pressing public health crisis. Protecting mothers is fundamental to societal strength. Therefore, advocating for better maternal health practices and respecting Black women's motherhood is imperative for future generations.
