On the afternoon of October 6, a man entered Bonez Barber Shop on E. Carson Street, South Side, and generously donated $100, emphasizing his support for the establishment. Shortly thereafter, a woman arrived and unexpectedly covered the haircuts for two children present, declaring her solidarity with the barber shop and reassuring the owner, Ramone Pierce, that everything would be alright. “That brought me to tears,” Pierce remarked to the New Pittsburgh Courier. Bonez Barber Shop was the site of a tragic shooting on October 4, where Rayon Williams lost his life. Myairah Carter, who has been charged with homicide, was identified as the assailant. Since the incident, Pierce has experienced tremendous backing from the community. He expressed his gratitude, stating, “I couldn't ask for a better career,” as he emphasizes the importance of his business in this historically challenging neighborhood for Black-owned establishments. His heartfelt acknowledgment of support reflects a deep appreciation for his community.
