Council removes unauthorised painting

Waverley Council swiftly removed an unauthorised piece of pro-Palestinian graffiti from Bondi Beach over the weekend. Waverley Councillor Leon Goltsman told The AJN that by the time members of the public reported the graffiti, the council were already aware and had begun organising to paint over it that same day. “I’m really proud of the great work of our officers on the ground, our staff and the community who are not turning a blind eye to these sort of things,” Goltsman said. Waverley Council had the painting removed the same day. “We need to continue speaking up and taking a stance. What’s good about it is it wasn’t just the Jewish community who stood against it, it was the broader community as well – a lot of non-Jewish people are also against those kind of actions.” Goltsman said staff, councillors and officers on the ground are continuously on the lookout and take such actions extremely seriously. “Our council is really showing a step in the right way,” Goltsman said.
