Saint Lucia’s Health Ministry has issued an advisory regarding Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) as the island prepares to host the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup in June and Carnival 2024.
“The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs would like to remind the general public of precautionary measures when engaging in sexual activities,” Senior Medical Officer Dr. Gail Gajadhar said.
Gajadhar disclosed that Sexually Transmitted Diseases such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, HIV, and hepatitis B and C exist in Saint Lucia.
However, she noted that people are likely to engage in activities outside their comfort zone, especially after consuming alcohol, as they attend parties, fetes, and shows.
