Delaware SBA’s ‘Access to Action’ shines a light on Black business

The U.S. Small Business Administration Delaware (SBA Delaware) is bringing Black History Month and business together with its “Access to Action: Building Your Finances for Funding” event on Feb. 22. This free half-day event, presented by the SBA-backed Delaware Small Business Development Center’s (SBDC) Community Navigator Pilot Program, will include two panels geared toward helping Black-owned ventures in Delaware. One will spotlight Black entrepreneurs in Delaware discussing their journeys and offering advice; the second features resource partners discussing business financials and funding opportunities. There are more than a dozen resource partners involved with the event, including the Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce, Wilmington Alliance and TrueAccess Capital. Participants include SBA Delaware Director Michelle Harris; Saundra Johnson, the State of Delaware’s director of statewide equity initiatives; Michael Bowman, Delaware SBDC State Director and Delaware Technology Park President; C.J. Bell, New Castle County Director of Economic Development; Rev. Dr. Christopher Alan Bullock, pastor of Canaan Baptist Church of Delaware (where the event will take place); and Ivan Thomas, Comcast Channel 28 at DETV Network Executive Director.
