Deltas to host online political event with state lawmakers

The Daytona Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is honoring Black women who are making their mark in the political arena. They are hosting a webinar titled “Women in Politics: The Black Women’s Influence” on Monday, June 10 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event will run until 8 p.m. Because of their activism and influence in Florida politics, the Daytona Beach Deltas have invited four women of political influence to serve on a panel to discuss “All Things Civic Engagement” from the view of a Black woman. The women – all state lawmakers – are Florida State District 5 Senator Tracie Davis, Florida House District 40 Representative Lavon Bracy-Davis, Florida House District 13 Representative Angela Nixon and Florida House District 62 Representative Michele Rayner-Goolsby. Dr. Sadie McConner will serve as the moderator. McConner is the sorority chapter’s co-chair of its Social Action and Political Action Committee.
