A clerk at a Detroit gas station has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term following the fatal shooting of a man over an argument related to beef jerky. Moad Mohamed Al-Gaham received a sentence ranging from 20 to 50 years for second-degree murder, as reported by WDIV.On June 5, 2023, Al-Gaham shot 25-year-old Anthony McNary in the forehead at an ExxonMobil station after catching him attempting to steal beef jerky. Although McNary offered to pay for the snack after Al-Gaham confronted him, the clerk ejected him from the store and locked the doors. Surveillance footage captured Al-Gaham emerging with a firearm and shooting McNary through the glass door; the victim, unarmed at the time, succumbed to his injuries shortly after at a nearby hospital. Before sentencing, Al-Gaham addressed the court and McNary's family, expressing remorse and confusion over the incident. Despite his defense seeking a lesser sentence, the judge opted for a more substantial punishment. Following the ruling, McNary's family expressed a sense of justice over the verdict.
