Dismay as new Nottingham bus station entrance targeted by graffiti

The vandalism of a new part of Nottingham’s Broadmarsh bus station has caused dismay among some residents. The entrance at Sussex Street was targeted by graffiti taggers over the weekend. A social media post highlighting the issue has attracted dozens of comments, most of which have complained about the visual impact on the city. The city council said it was disappointed, but added the graffiti would be cleaned off. People passing the entrance felt it did not give a good impression of the area. Jo Ward said: “I think it happens. It is not going to stop us using the bus station but it is a shame as we have all this lovely new public space and this might make people feel unsafe about being in the city.” Lauren Hurt said: “It is a bit of a shame because it is brand new and it is not very nice to look at. “But it’s in a space where not a lot of people see it and there is other, I guess, artistic, graffiti.” Peter Oolusola said: “I think it is selfish.
