Don Lemon and CNN have reportedly reached an agreement following his firing last year.
According to TheWrap, the former CNN anchor will receive approximately $24.5 million from his former employer in a separation deal that equals what Lemon would have been paid had he been allowed to stay at the network through the end of his contract three-and-a-half years from the time of his firing.
In April, Lemon announced his firing from CNN on X (formerly known as Twitter). “I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN, I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly,” Lemon tweeted at the time. “At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network.”
While CNN later confirmed that it had “parted ways” with Lemon, the network called Lemon’s version of events “inaccurate.”
“Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate,” CNN previously said in a statement. “He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”
