Dr. Meredith Evans to speak at UC’s Black Future Month keynote

As part of the University of Cincinnati’s month-long series of events to commemorate 2024 Black History Month, retitled Black Future Month, the Charles P. Taft Research Center of UC, in partnership with Union Baptist Church, will feature a lecture by Dr. Meredith Evans.
All events are free and open to the public; however, registration is requested for Dr. Evans’ lecture. It will be Thursday, Feb. 22, at 6:30 p.m. in Probasco Auditorium, 2839 Clifton Ave. Doors open 6 p.m.
Evans is the 75th president of the Society of American Archivists and the appointed director of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum. She has held managerial roles in archives, special collections and exhibit spaces at Washington University in St. Louis, University of North Carolina Charlotte and George Washington University.
Evans will be joined by Leo Yakutis, an information technology management senior consultant and member of the Union Baptist Cemetery advisory board, who will discuss the start of a 10-year effort to digitalize the records of Union Baptist Cemetery (1864) and United Colored American Cemetery (1883).
